Looking to replace their older series of pistols, the Soviet military hosted a design competition to find a successor. Nikolay Fyodorovich Makarov's design, which was modified off a German pistol, won out. Praised for its simplicity, reliability and accuracy, the Pistolet Makarova - commonly known as the PM or Makarov, became the service pistol for Soviet police and military personnel in 1951. The pistol saw use throughout the Cold War and continues to be used today, even after the fall of the USSR.
Based off the rugged Soviet design, the Umarex Full Metal Makarov PM is an excellent, high power air gun that is perfect for training and target shooting. The Makarov sports a full metal slide and frame that gives the pistol a very solid and heavy feel and makes it very durable. There is a functioning safety located on the left side of the slide. The trigger operates both on a single action and double action. The ABS plastic pistol grip panels are designed to slide back allowing users to easily insert, or remove, 12g Co2 cartridges. Being a blowback pistol, the slide will cycle back and forth with every shot, generating strong recoil.
