SIG’s SG 550 series is a famous weapon with a myriad of users all over the globe, and is featured in numerous movies and video games. The SG 552 is all too uncommon in airsoft form, with only a few manufacturers to choose from. Luckily, ICS has brought their SG 550 series to the table, a high-quality and high-performance replica which doesn’t break the bank. ICS went the extra mile to ensure extra quality and realism in this replica, and you can feel it. The receiver is made from high quality metal, which has a flat grey finish, setting it apart from many other guns on the field. Adorning the receiver are licensed trademarks from SIG. The 552 is the short commando version of the SG 550, and while optimized for CQB, will still hold up to field use. Ambidextrous controls make this AEG easy to use for anyone. To adjust the hop-up, simply pull back on the charging handle, which will then lock in place, making hop-up adjustment incredibly easy. Pressing the bolt release will send the mock bolt flying forward with a satisfying *clack.* Both the handguard and side folding stock are made from durable, high quality polymer, and the handguard has metal accessory rails in the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions, allowing the user to install accessories such as the included vertical foregrip and PEQ-style battery box. The rear sight is incredibly easy to use, with four different apertures for precise shooting, and adjustability for windage and elevation. The magazine is a translucent plastic similar to the real gun, and holds 470 rounds. For added utility, the magazines feature the same locking lugs as G36-style magazines, allowing the user to lock multiple together for quick reloads. And just like on the real gun, the trigger guard even swings out of the way for use with thick gloves. Internally, it’s the same rock-solid internals expected of ICS, so don’t expect this gun to skimp out on performance, either! This AEG is a great choice for anyone looking for something a little different.
